How to add email to Microsoft Outlook App in Windows
Dear readers and followers this blog of mine is about configuring email in Microsoft Outlook. In this blog we will see how to configure an email for a user having Microsoft Windows operating system such as Windows 10. For security purposes, I have removed some information from the images here, and due to the same reason cannot share some images as IT violates the security policy. The shared information is already enough for you to configure the email successfully.
In order to configure email in Microsoft Outlook make sure that you have access to your Control Panel because you will need some configuration information that can only be retrieved from your control panel. Keep in mind that here we are talking about the control panel of the hosting account. Do not get it confused with the control panel of the windows operating system. This post is written for non-IT professionals and career beginners of information technology.
Now that you have access to your control panel with the username and password provided by your hosting provider. Go to your email section.
Click Email Accounts.
Click Connect Devices on the right side of your email that you want to configure. It will show you the incoming and outgoing email server settings with your port numbers. Note down this information with you or keep the tab open.
Now go to your Microsoft outlook app installed in your operating system.
Once opened click File.
Click Account Settings.
Click New
Click Advanced options
Select Let me set up my account manually and enter the email address you want to configure.
After this the Connect button will get highlighted blue.
Now click Connect
Now in the next window you have choices as below
As shown above you have to choose between POP or IMAP. The difference between them is, one allows downloading of emails from your Webserver and one does not. If you do not want to keep you emails on Webserver choose POP and if you want to keep the copy of your emails on Webserver choose IMAP. If you receive many emails then POP is the best option to choose but if you receive email only once or twice than IMAP is also not a bad idea as it keeps the copy of your emails on your Webserver.
Now that you have selected POP, a window will open as shown below. Enter your incoming and outgoing server settings from you Cpanel along with port numbers. If you choose to enter SSL settings then select This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS) else do not select.
Uncheck the option Leave a copy of messages on the server. This will download your emails from the webserver and will not fill up your web disk quota as allotted by the email administrator.
