Local Printers Not Appearing in Remote Desktop

Hi hope that you are having a good day and if not I know the reason that has made you read this. Well, we will jump straight to the solution of the problem without wasting anytime of yours, like all of my posts are.

The Problem:

Printers on a remote users laptop are printing properly but not printing from within the Remote Desktop Server.

Solution:

There are number of things that you must try out one by one and see if it works.

Update Printer Drivers: Sometimes printers are printing perfectly fine on the locally connected pc/laptop but their drivers are not updated. This could be crucial and can be time saving.

If this didn't worked then move to the next step.

Another Laptop and Printer: You need to make sure whether there is any issue from client PC/System or Server. For this try out any other PC/Laptop and if possible connect any other printer to see whether the real problem is from server or the pc/laptop for which the issue has been reported. This would isolate the problematic part.

Local Resources: On your remote desktop window navigate to Local Resources, under Local devices and resources make sure Printers and Clipboard are selected.

Disable Printer Redirection: Disable Printer Redirection under following option by typing "gpedit.msc" in Run

Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\Terminal Server\Printer Redirection

Last but not the least

Print Spooler: Go to Server Manager under Tools click services option run Print Spooler service. If already running then restart the service.
